Hello Ladies, and diy'ers. Sorry it took so long to post these. The process of repainting and redecorating was longer than I had anticipated.
Chalk board frames seem to be the new thing. Every where I go to get decor for our home has some new way of using it in your house. Since I had these old pictures that did not coordinate with my new decor. I decided to transform them into Chalk board frames.
Here is how I made mine!
Things you will need for this project
- Can of Rust-oleum Chalk Board spray paint
- Blanket or drape cloth
- Sanding sponge
- Rag or wet cloth
- Old pictures
- Chalk
Now lets get started
Here is the exact chalk board spray paint I used one can will easily do at least 3-4 big frames
Here is the picture I used Here is the smaller picture I used. Sand the glass a little then wipe down with wet cloth and allow to dry
Tape the frame and be careful not to tape the glass I did and you can see it through the paint
First coat will look funny. I followed directions on can. It said to spray side to side then next coat go in opposite direction
Here is after 3rd coat and dry, I did 6 coats because since it was on glass and not a textured surface figured that would help it last longer
Finished product. When it is dry rub chalk all over board and then it is ready for use. I used permanent marker to fill in the blank spots.
Smaller one completed and hung up in kitchen
I hope you enjoyed this post and I will be going to some thrift stores to make more of these.
Thank you for visiting.
God Bless,
Lea
