Here is my favorite picture wall tutorial. While repainting our house. I had a new vision on doing
a different picture wall layout then the one I originally had in my house. I stumbled upon this idea on a blog source here. I decided to add my own touch to it by adding in wall quote pictures and mixing black and white pictures with colored ones. Plus using different types of frames, but keeping them all black. I used screws and wall anchors because a lot of my frames are super heavy and this wall is connected to our laundry room which that door slams a lot, so I didn't want a frame falling on someones head, plus our drywall is really crappy in our house and I trust wall anchors and screws more then those sticky hanging things they sell for pictures. If your frames are light I recommend using the Velcro no hole things they sell. I'm having a brain fart on their name. Oh Commands!!!
But anyways here it is.
Here was my starting inspiration

Things you will need to complete this wall
- Painters tape. I used 1-1/2 inch.
- Different sized frames and picture quotes in same color of frames at least 16-18 ranging in different sizes
- Screws and wall anchors
- Drill
- Pencil
- Picture Level
- Vacuum
- Step Stool
- Spray paint in color of frames you decide to use
I started with some white frames from Ikea that I sanded down a little, wiped them clean and dry, and spray painted with black semi gloss spray paint. I used rustoleum 2 in 1 semi gloss black.
Here they are after about 3 coats of spray paint
Then determine where and how long of a line your going to want. Measure it on the wall with the actual tape and then take it down to the floor to use to situate your frames. Take a picture of your layout once you are satisfied with it so you can refer to it when hanging the pictures. I ended up changing mine around on wall because It looked better. So don't be afraid to switched it up .
Once you are ready to start hanging. Bring the tape back to the wall, use your level to make sure tape line is level. Start on one side first, situate picture, use a pencil to line and measure where you will need to place the screw. I messed up a couple of times on this process but if it's your home a couple extra holes is worth the end product!
I ripped the tape in half and used that to space apart my pictures to keep a uniformed look
Then keep repeating this process till you are done with top row
Once you have completed top row. Start same process on bottom row. I outlined top of each frame with the pencil and then measured where the hanging part was to make sure it was accurate. I also used vacuum to vacuum up dust as I drilled the holes this helped with clean up later.
Here it is finished I still had to spray paint one picture frame and add new pictures to the blank frames.
Here it is on our new wall color!!!I love it!!
Here was the old picture wall I used most of these pictures but spray painted the frames
I hope you enjoyed this post.
Thank you for visiting.
God Bless,
Lea
