Whats In My Hospital Bag On A Budget

Hello blogging world. Sorry I haven't posted in forever, baby Faith our little girl has been giving us a hard time in the womb. I am now 6 months whoop whoop. I cant believe it.  Now I just hope the next 3 fly by.
Now if any of you are like me you like to be prepared. My hospital bag has been packed for about 2 weeks, and I keep adding and taking away from it every other day. I just felt like I was bringing too much stuff!!! But after a short 9 hour stint in the hospital for dehydration. I realized some things I really can not do with out. So I am going to go over what I feel you will need. Now I know there is plenty of other great blog posts about this so do more research.
I am not the best photographer so I will post what is exactly going in my bag. Then I will post the actually pictures to most of the new things I bought just for the stay and where to get them, because I am not the all cute type to be rocking a $80 pink sweat pants out fit and $40 flip flops. No offense to those who can afford it we just can't.
There are some private things in these pictures so beware.........
Now here is my bag all packed up. The actual bag is from Old Navy I bought it a while ago.

Now here are all my items I know it is hard to tell what they are because the are almost all black. Why are they all black you ask? Here is where it gets personal. You will most likely be bleeding like Niagara Falls out of your lady bits and will most likely be wearing depends or a huge pad. So I wear black so I can camouflage that huge sucker I will be wearing and also hide any leaks I may have. Trust me you might want to do the same. So I am going to list my items from bottom left on up. Not pictured yet is my cute $35 nursing gown I am getting from etsy. I will post a picture and link at the bottom for a similar one.

  1. Black Towel. I packed my biggest and most comfy one to keep me nice and warm. Because it is like blow zero in the hospital. And black to hide any stains.
  2. Black Robe. This robe is soft and light from Target for $22. Keeps you covered when guests come in to visit.
  3. Comfy Slippers. These are from target and are $9. I suggest comfy because your feet will be swollen and sore.
  4. Cheap Plastic Flip Flops. These are for when you shower. Trust me you don't know what germs are on those floors.
  5. Soft Warm Socks.  I suggest these because it's like below zero and your feet will get cold. Mine were from the dollar store.. Yep $1.....
  6. High Waisted Undies. These are Hanes from target I paid $8 for a 6 pack. I bought dark ones for any stains and high waisted in case you have to have a c-section. Be prepared you never know what will happen so I suggest the bigger the better.
  7. Support Underwear Or A Girdle. This pair is from Assets brand. I bought a long time ago it works to hold in your tummy and is high waisted as well. This isn't black because I bought to wear under dresses at the time. Trust me you will want a pair for when you go home to hold your pad in place and to keep you looking as cute as possible on the way home. You will most likely still look about 6 months pregnant and will want something to hold and support your tummy. I'm planning on buying a Belly Fit Girdle But will wait till next month to do so. Packing this one as a backup.
  8. Sleep/ Nursing Bras. I suggest you pack 2. Because even if your not breast feeding your boobs might leak. I'm packing a black and a white one. Only white one is pictured. Mine are from Target and are for busty women. I will post a link for these because they are comfy and inexpensive. And pack in the size you are wearing at 8-9 months because your boobs will stay the same or get bigger until a while after birth. I bought one size up and one at my size now.
  9. Going Home Outfit. For my going home outfit. I packed maternity black leggings that fit me at 6 months, a black long light flowy tee and a cute long kimono. Again in the black color scheme. Now my baby is a June baby so it will be hot but I'd rather be covered up, then in some light colored clothes that I end up leaking on for everyone to see.
  10. After Delivery Comfy Outfit. I packed a pair of my hubbies pajama pants and a cute sleep shirt from target. This I suggest because when you got to bed you will want to be comfortable and it makes bathroom runs easier. Plus its black again for when you guests to prevent leak and also to camouflage that huge pad/diaper you will be wearing. I coordinated this to go with my black robe for extra coverage.
  11. Nursing Tank. Mine is in black and was given to me from a friend. I suggest packing at least one if your going to be nursing if not don't even bother.
  12. Extra Bag. Mine was $6 form Old navy. You will most likely come out with more then you went in with. So an extra bag will help hubby bring everything down to the car!
  13. Depends. I packed about 5 of them just for the first day and overnight to help with any leaks. These are good to for when laying down because they cover you up the front and back. I suggest wearing under a pair of underwear for more support.
  14. Favorite Pads. Now I know the hospital supplies you with some but bring at least 8 of your favorite so you can wear them when guests are there and when you go home.
  15. Breast Pads. I packed about 12 in a plastic bag. You will want to pack even if your not breast feeding just because you will be leaking a little.
  16. Prenatal Vitamins. Now I packed a little in a bag instead of bringing a bottle it just saves room plus is cheaper if you forget to get the bottle when you leave. These are especially important if you will be breastfeeding because you will need more nutrients and vitamins then you needed when pregnant.
  17. Basic Essentials and Skin Care Items. I packed miniature of all of these to save room. Shampoo, Conditioner, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Q tips, hair ties, dry shampoo, lotion, chap stick, gum, face wash, face lotion, deodorant, hairspray, stool softener, cleaning wipes and a brush.
  18. Make Up. I packed the minimum on these. Face primer, face powder, highlighter, mascara. Feel free to pack whatever you may need or want.
  19. Pillow. Mines not pictured but I highly suggest because their beds are not the most comfortable and if you suffer from migraines like me, this is especially necessary as you will get a migraine if you do not have the proper support.
  20. Comfy Blanket. Mines not pictured because I am washing it as I write. Now I never brought a blanket for my other 2 delivery's but after this last stay at the hospital I highly recommend it. I like to be covered with a soft warm blanket not sheets. I just can not sleep unless I have a blanket. High Maintenance? Maybe, but I am telling you it will be worth it. Plus you just carried a child for 40 weeks and pushed them out your lady bits. You need a little TLC.....
  21. Breast Feeding Pillow. Mine  is not pictured because it is not bought yet. I highly suggest this as the beds their are not always the most comfortable and besides a newborn feeds for at least 45 min. you want to be comfortable.
  22. Breast Pump.  Mines not pictured but I have a Medela pump that my insurance provided. I suggest bringing to get used to it and to make sure you get any extra milk out of those boobies to help with engorgement.
I hope this has helped you first timers or if your like me and can not remember a lot form your previous delivery's, except that you will have a beautiful child to bring home.  Then this will help assist you in preparing.
Here are some of my new things I bought specifically for the hospital stay.
