Our Home Redecorating Secrets and Pictures of First Home Renovation

I have posted many rearranging pictures of our home but here we finally redecorated our living room and foyer.  Also in this post I wanted to show you our home renovation process when we first purchased our house.
Short story on the buying process. We were renting a 2 bedroom town house for over 5 years. Which we were served paperwork that our landlord had defaulted on payments and our townhouse was being sold as a short sale. We then started house hunting, unsure of when we would be forced to move out. We would go every day to look at houses and found many that we liked but just kept getting outbid on. I was so overwhelmed and frustrated that we decided to take a month off of looking to get some stress relief. Right after the month we had a guy knock on our door. He had bought our town house and will be remodeling it in about a month and would rent it to us for $200 more than what we were paying. At that moment we sat down and prayed for the lord to help us find our house.  We then got a phone call from our realtor on the following Sunday. Saying there was a house that is in contract but the bank needed a backup plan if their mortgage didn't get approved. So we decided to go look at the house. It was a bit further west than we wanted and had an Hoa which we didn't want and it needed a lot of work which we didn't originally want to do.
When we first looked at the house my hubby said heck no, but I saw the beauty in the house, he saw what it looked like then and I saw what it could look like. It was over 600 sq ft smaller than we wanted and had one less bedroom too. So after we looked at it we waited and on that following Monday we were told we could put an offer on it. We decided to put the offer in and left the rest in the Lords hands. We were approved literally by the end of the week and had our closing date set for 3 weeks. And the rest is history.

Here is a collage of before, middle and now of the same room
Here are pictures from the day we went to look at the house. Our house came with a stage and yes a stripper pole.  It also had over 300 huge holes in walls that we took an entire day to patch up.

Our renovation came with many difficult times. First was our fridge, it flooded the kitchen wall and rug in our master bedroom on the first day of ownership. Then came the question of a spider that looked like a brown recluse, it wasn't it was a huge wolf spider which we had all over our house for over 2 months . Then they flooded our home with 1 foot of water when removing our old tile which set us back 2 weeks because they had to remove all of our baseboards and replace 1 foot of drywall on every single wall you will see the damage in all the pictures below! Then it took us over 2 weeks to paint and because we weren't living in the house they cancelled our home owners insurance. We ended up finishing and moving in on week 7 of renovation.

Here is everything we did to house
  • New tile throughout entire house
  • Take down popcorn ceiling
  • Put knockdown texture on all walls and ceiling
  • New baseboards
  • Add trim to girls rooms
  • Fix closets and add shelves
  • Paint ceiling and inside of house
  • Get rid of old tile and all debris
  • Clean house and move in
