As I was reading my bible I opened it up today to Hebrews 13:5-15. I see whenever I start a new thing in my life The Lord is always bringing me back to Hebrews to keep me grounded. I just wanted to share a little of my faith in The Lord with you.
Be content, that's one thing I have always struggled with even as a kid I was raised by a single mom who always struggled to provide. I always had hand me down clothes, or barely any clothes at all. I would watch TV and music videos and constantly want new stuff. I was never content . Until one day I encountered a relationship with Jesus Christ who slowly started working with me . Now I'm not saying I don't love shopping cause "I am a woman" after all it's in our DNA but what I'm saying is I'm content not getting all these crazy name brands I'm happy with shopping at forever 21, H&M and so on . I occasionally will go to guess, express, Bebe, Nordstroms and will buy a Michael kors or coach bag on sale!!! But I'm not going crazy to get them. I don't feel bad that I can't get Gucci, Armani or Versace. No offense to those who can and do get them I'm just saying they don't make a person beautiful or fashionable. The way you put yourself together and carry yourself does. Don't feel less then great if you can never buy a Chanel bag be happy with who you are and what you have . There are so many people starving to death, no place to sleep or who have only 1 pair of shoes.
Here's a story of my older daughter. About 2 years ago she got straight A's on her report card so I promised I'd take her to her "favorite " store which was Hollister . This was where all her friends at school shopped because they have parents who can afford to shop there on the regular. I told her she can get 1 thing. She picked out a pretty cardigan for $80. I asked her "you sure that's what you want? We can go to forever 21 and get about 3 cardigans or 2 outfits for that price". She said "no I want this". I knew she wanted it to fit in and knew she didn't feel great cause she didn't have all these Hollister shirts and sweaters. Like the other kids . Shortly After her second day wearing it the pockets ripped and it had those friction balls all over it. She was so mad. So I gave her an old purple leopard cardigan I told her to wear it and come tell me how many compliments she got. She did just that . The next day she got in my car and said "mom all my friends loved it. They want to know where you got it"? I said "tell them at rainbow for $12 , 2 years ago". She could not believe it. Since that day my daughter learned labels do not define you and I now coordinate all her outfits for her at her request. Who can say that about their 13 year old daughter ? I know I wouldn't let my mom dress me at that age . Lol God bless you all I hope you enjoyed this.
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. (Hebrews 13:5, 6 KJV)
